Talk Moves: Increasing Discourse in the Classroom

Talk moves are purposeful teacher prompts and facilitation strategies that promote student-to-student interaction, clarify thinking, and elevate mathematical discourse. In this session, participants will examine and practice talk moves aligned to the P³ Mathematics Framework to strengthen academic discourse, position students as mathematical thinkers, and support sensemaking through shared reasoning and justification.

What Exemplary Collaboration Looks Like

Participants will learn about the essential elements of true teamwork in the math classroom and leave with a ready-to-use digital toolkit of sample activities that model exceptional collaborative practice.
